The New Year rang in significant changes to the Heritage Center! Manager and founding champion of the Heritage Center, Greg Wallace, retired! After nearly 40 years with the company, fifteen at the Heritage Center, Greg and his wife Diane are looking forward to moving up north to their lake-side home. He will be missed! His vast knowledge and unmistakable passion for automotive history and classic cars can never be replaced!
Right behind Greg, Jim Vehko also retired. Jim served nearly 20 years at the Heritage Center, after retiring from his first career as an executive in automotive public relations. He was the voice of the Heritage Center, answering the phone with his trademark “What’s your question?” greeting, and researching answers for the thousands of restorers and enthusiasts who rely on the HC.
The Heritage Center also bid farewell to Kevin Rose, a GM Communications manager who has been involved with the GM Media Archive for many years, and Heritage Center operations since Greg Wallace’s retirement. He too, is looking forward to an entertaining retirement!
Kevin Kirbitz, another long-time employee of General Motors, and history aficionado, will add the Heritage Center and Media Archive operations to his responsibilities. Kevin also manages Durant-Dort Factory One, a GM conferencing center and home of the Kettering Archives, in Flint.
