1967 Chevrolet Camaro Indy 500 Pace Car
New for 1967, the Camaro was Chevrolet’s entry into the “pony car” mix and could be built from mild to wild. With up to 375 hp available when the Mark IV big block L78 engine was ordered, the Camaro could become a drag strip stormer. The SS version came standard with a 350 CID V8 and included a special hood, paint stripes, nylon red stripe tires, 14x6 wheels and SS emblems on the fenders, grille and gas filler cap. Camaro was chosen to pace the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing”, the Indy 500 for 1967 and again in 1969.
